Officials: Off-duty Chicago cop fatally shoots man
CHICAGO — Officials say an off-duty Chicago police officer fatally shot a man during an altercation after the officer's motorcycle hit the man's daughter.
Authorities say the officer was driving home around 10 p.m. Saturday when he saw a 4-year-old girl run into the street. He left his bike to avoid a crash but it still grazed the girl.
The girl's father, Christopher Middleton, began yelling at the officer. Village spokesman Larry Shapiro says Middleton was inside a restaurant during the crash.
