Sox call on Wise

CHICAGO – Outfielder Dewayne Wise, the quintessential baseball journeyman, is back on the South Side.

The White Sox purchased Wise’s contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday and moved pitcher John Danks to the 60-day disabled list to clear room on the 40-man roster. It marks Wise’s second stint with the Sox after spending two seasons (2008-09) with the organization.

Wise, 34, has played for six organizations during his 10 years in the majors. The Sox signed Wise on Aug. 3 after he was designated for assignment by the Yankees on July 23. In seven games with Charlotte he hit .161.
