White Sox's Sale overmatches A's

CHICAGO – Whenever he can, White Sox pitcher Chris Sale avoids talking about any personal accomplishments or accolades.

If Sale keeps piling up dominant outings like Sunday’s against the Oakland Athletics, however, the spotlight will only become brighter. Teammate A.J. Pierzynski had no qualms touting Sale’s performance this season after the Sox's 7-3 win. Sale’s 14 wins are second most in the American League, while his 2.60 ERA ranks fourth.

“I haven’t really paid attention to other guys' numbers, but his have to be as good as anybody else out there,” Pierzynski said. “ … There are other guys in the conversation, but he has to be high on the list as far as Cy Young and one of the best guys in the AL.”
