Algonquin planners OK rentals

ALGONQUIN – The planning and zoning commission a gave thumbs up Monday to allow high-end rental apartments instead of condos in the residential Riverside Plaza development.

The village board is scheduled to discuss the recommendation at a committee of the whole meeting Aug. 28, said Russel Farnum, the village’s community development director.

Riverside Plaza developer John Breugelmans wants to switch the residential development from condos to apartments, and eventually switch back to condos when the market allows.
