Marengo scraps all trash bids

MARENGO – The City Council has decided to scrap all three of the bids it received for trash collection and recycling in 2013 and beyond, saying it wants more time to assess the next five-year contract.

The city administration had recommended cutting ties with MDC Environmental Services in December and go with a less expensive bid from Veolia Environmental Services. The city has used MDC for 45 years.

“My personal belief was we need a little more time to look at everything,” said Second Ward Ald. Corey Brackmann. “I felt the best way to do that is to start from square one.”
