County transportation workers get 2 percent raises

GENEVA – Kane County and the transportation workers union have agreed to a three-year contract that includes 2 percent raises in each year.

The contract negotiated with the Teamsters Local 330 on behalf of 27 year-round workers represents their first raise in three years, Kane County Department of Transportation Carl Schoedel said.

“In the previous contract, all three years had a 0 percent increase,” Schoedel said. “We actually set it up so we had to renegotiate every year because there was so much uncertainty about the economy. The end result was no base wage increases for all three of those years.”
