Legalize marijuana
To the Editor:
I applaud the Crystal Lake Police Department’s recommendation to reform the marijuana laws.
This small but significant step toward legalization is realized in over one-third of the nation.
Can we all agree that good law is established by good science? The scientific evidence that cannabis fits the description of a schedule 1 narcotic does not exist.
My science shows a huge tax revenue and reduction of gang violence and activity.
As a 1975 graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School, I say treat pot like alcohol; end the violence of prohibition.
Don’t forget the farmers! Never before have I seen such drought and catastrophic loss. If every farmer could grow one pot plant per acre, there would be no need for federal government subsidies. If one pot plant can bring over a thousand dollars of profit, why send the money to Mexico?
Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget our brave veterans suffering disabilities. I imagine a bunch of them would say “Yes, sir” if I offered to “pack o’ bowl,” roll a doob or share a happy brownie of the good herb.
