Officials: Rakow work is right on track for November finish

CRYSTAL LAKE – Declaring “the finish line in is in sight,” project leaders said the Rakow Road widening project is on schedule to be completed by the end of November and they are pleased, despite some commuters running low on patience.

Crystal Lake resident Mike Walsh wrote in a letter to the editor last week that “since early July, work on Rakow has been minimal at best.” And he questioned how school districts would deal with the construction, occasional lane closures and traffic backups during peak hours when classes start.

Construction at 18 months into the two-year, $26.6 million widening hasn’t slowed, but crews may be less visible to some drivers because recent work has been at intersections and on side streets, McHenry County officials and project leaders said.
