Jacobs’ Boyle knocks off Huntley’s Craig for title

WOODSTOCK – When Jacobs junior Chris Boyle and Huntley sophomore Trent Craig stepped up to the first tee for the start of an individual playoff in the Huntley Invitational, each was playing against a familiar foe.

The two battled previously in junior golf and school events, but never in a playoff and never after shooting even-par 72s.

Boyle hit his drive into the right rough, and Craig pounded his drive down the middle. Boyle then used a pitching wedge from 140 yards to within three feet and eventually tapped in for birdie. Craig chunked his second short off the green and would settle for par.
