Thousands expected at funeral for Texas constable

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Thousands of people are expected to attend a funeral service for a law enforcement officer who was among three killed in a shootout near Texas A&M University.

The service for Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann will be held Saturday afternoon at Reed Arena on the A&M campus in College Station.

Bachmann was fatally shot Monday by Thomas Caffall III. The 41-year-old constable was trying to serve a court summons to Caffall for being two months behind on rent. Other officers fatally shot Caffall. His family has said he was suffering from an unspecified mental illness.
