Responding to letter

To the Editor:

Re: Jim Doll’s letter (Aug. 11).

Congress passed the health care law with full knowledge of its content. What makes you think otherwise? Is what you’re saying, the Republicans can’t read or understand anything?

President Barack Obama is not dividing Americans into “classes.” I don’t know how you came to that conclusion or how you believe the media, ABC, CBS, NBC and MSNBC could or would support something or someone they didn’t trust or believe in. Try listening to other stations than FOX “noise” and Rush Limbaugh.

Obviously, you don’t support the president, nor do you support individual rights, the right for gays to marry. The president did not “consult” with his wife or children; he listened as they discussed gay marriage and other issues.

If you listen to children, you’ll notice that they are pretty smart, and for the most part aren’t prejudiced against anyone, unless their parents have already poisoned their minds. How does gay marriage affect you? Why do you care? Obama is highly intelligent, and doesn’t make rash decisions, i.e., invading a country just for something to do; you know, George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq, a country that did not have weapons of mass destruction. Bush’s decision was based on his effort to prove something to his daddy.

There should never be a mention of religious convictions in decisions made by our government. There is a separation of church and state. Religion is a personal matter and should remain that way. Do not inflict your beliefs on others.
