Tragedy averted

To the Editor:

While waiting for the inbound Metra train to arrive at the Cary station on a recent morning, I observed a small group of children running down the walkway from the train station. They were parentless, and it looked like they ranged in age from 3 to 11.

The oldest girl reprimanded her siblings when they tried to cross the tracks. It was obvious that the children were heading downtown, and they were probably waiting for their mother to come out of the train station with the tickets.
