CRYSTAL LAKE – The Citizen Police Academy is a 12-week program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Crystal Lake Police Department.

It consists of a series of classes, discussions and demonstrations about the operations and divisions of the department. The goal is to a better understanding, communication and partnership between the citizens and police.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, pass a criminal background check, and sign a waiver and hold harmless document. Preference is given to residents and persons who work in Crystal Lake. Once those people have been accommodated, anyone is free to attend.
