CL council recognizes 40-year fireball

CRYSTAL LAKE – One of the local firefighting community’s lesser-known leaders was recognized this week for his role in building and maintaining the Crystal Lake Rural Fire Protection District.

The Crystal Lake City Council on Tuesday presented Bob Seegers, longtime president of the Crystal Lake Fire Protection District board, with a plaque marking his 40th year of service.

Seegers has served on the board since it was created in 1972 to financially support what was then an all-volunteer fire department.
