McHenry County’s unemployment was 8.3 percent in July, down from 8.6 percent in July 2011, according to figures released Thursday by the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

According to Department of Employment Security spokesman Greg Rivara, the the jobless rate in the city of McHenry was 9.2 percent, compared to 9.9 percent in July 2011.

Other jobless numbers showed Algonquin at 8.2 percent, down from 8.7 percent a year ago; Crystal Lake, 8.7 percent, down from 8.9 percent; and Lake in the Hills, 8.6 percent, down from 9.0.
