Man gets 3 years for sexual abuse

CARPENTERSVILLE – A Carpentersville man has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexual contact with a teenage girl he knew.

Johnny Haskins, 43, also must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

A Kane County jury convicted him in June of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, each a Class 2 felony.

According to Illinois law, Haskins in eligible for day-for-day credit, and he was given credit for at least 285 days spent in the Kane County Jail since his arrest. Therefore, he could be released in less than a year.

The abuse occurred between January and November 2009.

The girl was younger than 17 at the time and reported the contact to a school counselor, who alerted authorities.
