Roadwork to begin on Rt. 31 Western Bypass

ALGONQUIN – The Illinois Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin road construction of the Route 31 Western Bypass in Algonquin in September.

F.H. Paschen/S.N. Nielsen was awarded the $33.3 million project, which includes construction of 2.11 miles of four-lane divided highway, a diamond interchange, four bridges, retaining walls and noise abatement walls west of downtown Algonquin, according to a news release from the village of Algonquin.

Site grading and excavation work began in April and is expected to be completed in December by Ryan Incorporated Central.
