Biased toward squatters

To the Editor:

All landlords beware! After deciding to rent my town home in Woodstock, I placed an ad. A woman contacted us. Feeling sympathetic toward her due to her recent divorce and other issues, I decided to rent to her.

Immediately, she was late on the rent and never paid the full amount. As I feel there is good in everyone, I said that we would work with her. Then I deposited a rent check and found a stop payment on it. I went to my house, but the locks were changed with blankets covering the windows. She refuses to respond by text, mail or phone. There are belongings there I would like to retrieve, but they are locked up and I, the owner, have absolutely no right to retrieve them.
