Quinn praises Huntley leaders' coordination on interchange funding
HUNTLEY – Gov. Pat Quinn made a rare visit to Huntley on Monday and commended village officials for working with other governments in securing $69 million needed to build the full Interstate 90-Route 47 interchange.
Huntley worked for nearly two decades to secure funding for the project, which creates eastbound and westbound access from Route 47 to I-90. Aside from the village, the Tollway, state transportation department and McHenry and Kane counties have financed the project.
Quinn on Monday helped officials from the five local and state agencies break ground on the long-awaited interchange. He told the numerous government, business and union officials in attendance that the project is a model interchange that is energy- and cost-efficient.
