Unique opportunity
To the Editor:
Our county administrator makes more than $125,000 a year. Our County Board chairman makes $82,000 a year. In November, the voters of McHenry County will have a unique opportunity to eliminate these two positions, neither of which are accountable to any of us hardworking, taxpaying citizens.
By voting “yes” for the referendum, we will create an executive position with a salary of no less than $32,000, which could save taxpayers up to $170,000 a year. This position is an elected position, and that person will be held accountable to the voters, not the County Board members who, by the way, think we voters are not capable of making this decision.
