Agreement reached on shooting donations

In response to a public plea for transparency on how donations are dispersed, all of the money raised in the wake of the Aurora, Colo., shooting will go to the victims.

Giving First and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper have promised that 100 percent of the money donated for the victims will go directly to those affected by the movie theater shooting, according to a news release from the Families of Aurora Victims.

More than $5 million has been raised so far. Earlier this week, victims’ families publicly criticized Giving First and the 7/20 Recovery Committee for a lack of transparency and not allowing the victims to have a say on how the money is distributed.
