Man charged with home invasion, punching victim
McHENRY – A McHenry man upset over a previous incident forced his way into the man’s home and punched him in the face, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Vincent P. Dunn, 18, was charged Thursday with felony home invasion, misdemeanor battery, and criminal damage to property following a incident that sheriff’s deputies described as drug related.
Authorities responded to the 3100 block of Bull Valley Road after the father of the victim stated that a man had entered his home without permission and struck his son in the face, according to a news release. Witnesses identified the man as Dunn, who was not at the residence when police arrived.
Investigators later learned that the two men had attended the same party last weekend, at which time Dunn accused the man of stealing something from his home, Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said. Polcie said Dunn went to the victim's home around 6:30 p.m. Thursday to confront the man.
Dunn gained entry to the home by smashing a rear-door window with a brick, according to police. Police said Dunn also damaged another window located on the side of the residence and broke the homeowner’s cell phone.
He was later taken into custody at a nearby business parking lot.
Dunn is currently being held at the McHenry County Jail on an $80,000 bond.
