Peoria man gets 33 years in friend's death
PEORIA (AP) – A judge in central Illinois has sentenced a Peoria man to 33 years in prison for fatally stabbing a friend he'd known since childhood.
The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that 42-year-old Justin Cervantes will be 75 when he gets out of prison because he's required to serve his full sentence.
Before being sentenced Thursday, Cervantes apologized to the family Sven Mundt, who was killed in October 2011. Cervantes also apologized to his own family for what he'd put them through.
