Restoration outing set at Glacial Park
RINGWOOD – Residents are invited to spend a weekend at Glacial Park during the McHenry County Conservation District’s award-winning “Weekend of Restoration” from 7 p.m. Sept. 21 to noon Sept. 23.
Unlike most vacations, the Weekend of Restoration gives participants a chance to learn about the plants and animals that inhabit Illinois woodlands and wetlands, the ecology and hydrology of native landscapes, and how natural area managers are trying to save and restore the natural heritage.
Participants will become part of the restoration effort, planting 200 oaks and native shrubs to re-create the original oak barrens landscape. To witness the results of last year’s “turtle marsh” weekend, visit on.fb.me/WkndofRstor.
