Wanted Woodstock man 
arrested in Texas

WOODSTOCK – A Woodstock man wanted as a fugitive by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested in Texas, authorities announced Friday.

Joseph L. Szpak, last known address of 302 Ridgeland Ave., Woodstock, was wanted in connection with aggravated stalking and five warrants for violations of an order of protection.

Szpak has been a fugitive since Sept. 9, 2011, and was believed to have fled to Florida.

The Sheriff’s Office was contacted Tuesday by the Algonquin Police Department with information from an anonymous source about Szpak’s whereabouts.

A U.S. Marshals Service team in Corpus Christi, Texas, was contacted.

About 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Szpak was arrested without incident.

Szpak is being held on $80,000 bond.
