Insult to small business

To the Editor:

In response to Mary Katayama (It’s Your Write, Aug. 29).

I read the Opinion page when I have time. I don’t generally respond since everyone has the right to an opinion. I had to answer this because it is an insult to all small businesses.

I would suggest that the writer get a written copy of the comment by President Barack Obama rather than listen to the liberal media. You will then see that it was not taken out of context as you suggest.

On behalf of all small businesses, I tell you that those statements are false. No one was there at midnight helping me build my business. If anyone helped, it was my wife and children. It was my gamble and hard work.

To suggest that there was outside influence by people working together makes no sense. The government never helped but put road blocks up in the form of taxes and regulations. Taxes paid by the business and employee taxes helped pay for the government roads, etc.

I would suggest that you start a business and you will understand the insult telling us that we didn’t do it by ourselves. Perhaps Obama should do this as well and learn.

Next time you see a small business, think about the dedication and hard work it takes to get to the success.
