Mr. and Mrs. Younce

McHENRY – Merle and Jean Younce of McHenry celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.

Jeane Heintz and Merle Younce were married Aug. 30, 1941, in Dearborn, Mich. They first lived in Beavercreek, Ohio, after their marriage.

They lived in Florida from 1977 until 2005, when the relocated to McHenry to be near their son and grandson, who live in Island Lake.

He was a facility engineer for the Department of Defense in Dayton, Ohio. He retired March 20, 1975. He was active in the VFW and DAV near their retirement home in Venice, Fla.

She was a teller at Waynesville National Bank until her retirement Dec. 31, 1975. She also was involved with veterans organizations and enjoyed miniature doll house work.

They have a son, Terry (Pat) Younce of Island Lake.

They also have a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
