Elgin man killed in Lakewood when motorcycle collides with SUV

LAKEWOOD – An Elgin man died Tuesday night when the motorcycle he was traveling on with his daughter collided with an SUV, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

Christopher J. Ludovice, 54, was pronounced dead at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock shortly after the accident at the intersection of Routes 47 and 176 in Lakewood.

Ludovice and his 16-year-old daughter were traveling south on Route 47 around 9 p.m. when the motorcycle struck a northbound Jeep Liberty trying to make a left turn onto Route 176, Police Chief Larry Howell said. The force of the impact threw both riders from the motorcycle.

They were not wearing helmets at the time of accident, police said. Speed, drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision.

The teen remained in critical condition Wednesday morning at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock.

William A. Cizek Jr., 49, of Harvard, was cited for improper left turn.
