Man arrested after stealing, crashing fire truck
JOHNSTON, CITY – A southern Illinois fire chief says it may take months to replace a fire truck that was stolen and crashed.
Authorities say they've arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of driving off in the Williamson County Fire Protection District truck on Tuesday before he slid off a road. The 2011 vehicle came to rest upside down at the bottom of an embankment.
The man was treated at a hospital before being taken to jail. There's no immediate word on any charges.
