Re: Mr. Samuel Urbaniak (It’s Your Write, Aug. 23) and the reply by June V. Dwitis (It’s Your Write, Sept. 1).

There were more than a quarter-million prisoners of war (American, Dutch, English, Australians) working as slave laborers in Japan. If an American soldier landed on Japanese soil, all POWs were to be executed immediately. (See the book “Undefeated” by Bill Sloan, page 329). They were all saved by dropping the atom bomb.
