LAKEMOOR – David Godlewski never envisioned that working security at Six Flags Great America would have led to a long, distinguished law enforcement career.

The then 20-year-old had been laid off from the American Motors Corp. in Kenosha, Wis. He was looking for a job with the intention of taking anything that came his way.

More than three decades later, the now 51-year-old veteran has served as a highway patrol deputy, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, deputy chief and chief during a 25-year stint with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
