Pyle enters not guilty plea in federal case
ROCKFORD – The day after he was formally indicted on child sex abuse and pornography charges, a former McHenry County Sheriff's deputy entered a not guilty plea in federal court.
Gregory M. Pyle, 37, also has pleaded not guilty in McHenry County court to 10 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. He was arrested on those charges in January, posted bond, and then was arrested for second time on Aug. 14 after a criminal complaint was filed on the federal charges.
Pyle has been in custody without bond since then.
According to the federal complaint, Pyle’s online user names were identified by another man who was under investigation for child pornography.
Authorities said the alleged victim told the FBI that Pyle had sexually abused him since he was about 8 years old and that most of the abuse occurred in Pyle’s Crystal Lake home. The abuse also occurred across state lines in Wisconsin, investigators said.
