Harvard to celebrate teen drivers with event

HARVARD – Community leaders in Harvard will join others in hundreds of locations across the nation in a show of support for teen drivers Sept. 15 .

Car crashes are the No. 1 killer of American teens, according to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and their first year on the road as new drivers is the most dangerous. With this in mind, State Farm is debuting a driver-safety program called Celebrate My Drive.

The Harvard Celebrate My Drive event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harvard High School, 1103 N. Jefferson St. It will be hosted by State Farm Office - Agent Mabel Esquivel and feature giveaways of gift cards and baskets donated by local businesses.
