Do we care?

To the Editor:

The National Defense Authorization Act signed into effect at the turn of the year allows for U.S. citizens to be detained without trial or charge indefinitely. Pvt. Bradley Manning still is being held without trial with no end in sight. The government is blatantly violating the Constitution on a daily basis.

Does anyone even care?

The United Nations has deployed U.S. military personnel without written consent from Congress. We are fighting three illegal wars and have a drone bombing campaign that covers the whole Earth. Who’s being bombed? Mostly old men, women and children. Does anyone even care?

I, for one, do care, but I seem to stand alone among my peers. They’re more interested in the next episode of “America’s Got Talent.”

Our liberties are being stolen, and the rest of the world is living under the threat of the gun and economic tyranny, but no one seems to care.
