To the Editor:
Like cowboy philosopher Will Rogers, I don’t belong to an organized political party. I’m a Democrat.
During the first two years in office, President Barack Obama had both a Democratic House and Senate. This should have been enough to accomplish anything. Wrong! The Democrats spent that time trying to compromise with the Republicans to come up with fair plans to fix our ailing country. The Grand Old Party wasn’t having any of that. They spent their time telling anyone who would listen that their first priority was to defeat Obama in 2012.
During the next two years, the GOP controlled the House and made good on their promise not to let Obama have any victories. Now, Mitt Romney is telling the country they ought to elect him because Obama couldn’t fix the economy. Romney insists he has a plan to fix the economy and all we have to do is elect him and then he will unveil it. I wonder.
If the job of the government was to make money, I’d elect Romney in a heartbeat. His record at Bain Capital proves his success there. But he has a scant record for creating jobs, at least in this country, and that is what the country needs.
