Ridiculous referendum
To the Editor:
On Nov. 6, McHenry County voters will be asked through a referendum question whether they would like to change the county’s system of government to a county executive form of government. I have researched the state statutes and will be voting “no” to this referendum.
A change to a county executive creates a super-powerful figurehead with unilateral authority that far exceeds what is in place today in McHenry County, and far exceeds what is a reasonable level of power for one person to wield.
