To the Editor:
It sure is convenient that the McHenry County Board just decided that they and not the citizens should elect the County Board chairman. In that way, the political insiders can divide up the spoils and the citizens will continue to have no say.
The County Board can’t risk anyone with veto power over them because then their tax increases could be stopped. Since Ken Koehler has become board chairman, the County Board has increased property taxes every year. During that same time, our home values have remained stagnant or even declined while we pay almost double in property taxes than we did before Koehler was elected.
