Fundraiser set for family displaced by fire

CRYSTAL LAKE – A fundraiser Thursday will benefit an Algonquin family displaced by a fire.

The Mok family was awakened by Kashae Mok, who is about eight months pregnant, when the fire started just a few feet from where she was sleeping.

On Aug. 22, the family lost nearly all of their belongings, and smoke and fire damage rendered their home uninhabitable.

Since then, they’ve lived at a local hotel and now are in a rental house.

The insurance company told the family it could take six to eight months to rebuild their 2,000-square-foot home on Greenwood Court.

Customers who order from Nick’s Pizza & Pub on Thursday can help the family.

From 4 to 10 p.m., 15 percent of the food portion of the bill will be donated to the Mok family.

Customers can print a flier from the event’s Facebook page at http://shawurl.com/co9. The offer is good on dine-in and carryout orders.

Donations also can be mailed to the Frank and Patricia Mok relief fund at Citibank, 225 W. Virginia Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014, Attn: Jennifer Morgan. Checks can be made to Frank and Patricia Mok.
