No charges yet in fatal hit-and-run

WOODSTOCK – No charges have been filed yet against the driver police believe struck and killed a 6-year-old boy over the weekend.

McHenry County Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said Monday that a tip from an auto body shop owner led to the suspect, but he declined to release the individual's identity.

Bryan Silva of Leland was crossing the street with his father and a sibling about 9 p.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of Franklinville Road near Union when he was hit by the vehicle, police said.

The boy was taken to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was described as a white car or SUV with damage to one of the headlamps.
