Wonder Lake skiers make U.S. Water Ski Show team

WONDER LAKE – The USA Water Ski and the National Show Ski Association has announced the selection of the United States Water Ski Show team that will compete in the inaugural International Water Ski Show Championships this weekend.

Among those chosen are five skiers from Wonder Lake and one from Wauconda.

The tournament will be Saturday and Sunday in Janesville, Wis.

As many as six countries are expected to compete, including China, Belgium, Australia and Canada.

Team rosters are limited to 35 members, including skiers, boat drivers, announcers and show directors.

Matt Heilman and Chris Coupland were named show directors by the National Show Ski Association board of directors in August, and were charged with selecting the team.

They have selected the nation’s best after sorting through more than 200 applicants.

Team members include Roger Gerstad, Dan Hansen, Kim Hansen, Jayson Rishling and Jarret Graf, all of Wonder Lake and Ariana Koehler of Wauconda.
