Woodstock holds on for first volleyball win

WOODSTOCK – Woodstock coach Michelle Stilling saw her girls volleyball team take a leap forward Tuesday.

Woodstock North had rallied for a 17-17 tie in their crosstown Fox Valley Conference Fox Division match against the Blue Streaks, but Stilling’s squad, which returned no starters from last season, stayed focused on winning to pick up its first victory of the season, 28-26, 25-20.

“They maintained their focus and didn’t freak out when it started to get close,” Stilling said. “We had a JV tournament over the weekend that we won ... and that gave the entire group a burst of confidence and motivation. It’s good to get that first win under our belt.”
