Libraries to sign up members in shopping center promotion

HUNTLEY –In honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month, the Huntley Area Public Library, the Fox River Valley Public Library and Algonquin Area Public Library will host a library card sign-up day Saturday at Algonquin Commons shopping center.

"A Library Card – What We All Have In Common" will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at the shopping center, 1900 S. Randall Road, Algonquin.

For Huntley Area Public Library cardholders, including those who sign up at the event, the day will include a drawing for a Kindle eReader (courtesy of the HAPLD Friends Foundation), a craft for children of all ages, and a special presentation of "Super Couponing 2" by Jill Cataldo from 2 to 4 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served; standing room will be available.

The Algonquin and Fox River Valley libraries will have similar promotions for their patrons. Head for the courtyard near Aeropostale to get a library card, enter drawings, learn about library services, make a craft and take in a free program.

All month, the Huntley Area Public Library, Algonquin Area Public Library and Fox River Valley Public Library cards may be used at participating stores to receive special offers.

As part of the "A Library Card – What We All Have In Common" celebration, Miss Jodi, host of the Huntley Area Public Library’s weekly Story Times, will have her stories from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 at Cool Cuts 4 Kids Algonquin Commons. No purchase is necessary to participate in the story time that features stories about hair and haircuts.
