Support forest preserves

To the Editor:

Are you looking for a different way to celebrate fall with your family that involves movement, the outdoors under the full moon, with lively conversation and new experiences? Then join Friends of the Forest Preserves for a nighttime fall festival with fun for all ages from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in Barrington Hills. This wonderful event will be held at the Spring Creek Forest Preserve on Bateman Road just north of the intersection of Bateman and Route 62.

Guests will enjoy a cookout dinner, beer and wine, a huge bonfire, narrated horse-drawn wagon rides, native wildlife, stargazing, an amazing raffle, flashlight tours for children, live music and dancing.

Advance ticket prices purchased by Sept. 27 are $45 for adults ($60 at the door), $25 for ages 13 to 20, and $5 for children 12 and younger. See a detailed map and purchase event and raffle tickets online at, or call 312-356-9990.

Ignite the Night will take place rain or shine. Come support Friends of the Forest Preserves’ mission to preserve, protect and restore the forest preserves of Cook County for the benefit of people and nature.

With many Barrington-area volunteers involved, your family will rediscover what our forest preserves are like.
