To the Editor:
Last month, I had an occasion to get a driver’s license from the Department of Motor Vehicles in Woodstock. In the process, we discussed the Illinois Identification Card. The clerk cheerfully explained to me that this has been available for years. It is acceptable as voter ID and can be obtained from the DMV.
Remember when motor voter was pushed as a way of getting unregistered voters to register? Well, they can just as easily ask for an Illinois ID card.
Why the big ruckus about requiring voter identification? It easily solves the problem of identifying the voter with a picture ID. This will help eliminate voter fraud, and it should give confidence to the electorate that the vote count is valid.
