United Way to host tips on fundraising for nonprofits

CRYSTAL LAKE – Registration is under way for the training workshop “Fund-Raising Today,” scheduled for Wednesday at the McHenry County Mental Health Board, 620 Dakota St. in Crystal Lake.

This training is offered by United Way of Greater McHenry County Volunteer Center. 

Check-in and networking will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m., when the morning session begins.

Morning and afternoon sessions are offered, and lunch will be available.

Registration for the morning is $30. The afternoon session, “Introduction to Grant-writing,” costs $30.

Registration is required and can be completed online at www.volunteermchenrycounty.org. 

“Fundraising Today” is for staff and board members of nonprofit organizations looking for approaches to improve and expand their fundraising results.

Morning session presenters include the Rev. Ken Gibson of Grace Lutheran Church on planned giving and bequests; Matt Batt of Pipeline Inc. on marketing approaches to improve fundraising results; and Wendy Moylan of Harper College on trends and the fundraising outlook for nonprofits.

The afternoon “Introduction to Grant-writing” is intended for staff and board members who are newer to the grant application process.
