Fake field goal burns Bears

GREEN BAY – The Bears’ special teams meetings might last a little longer next week.

A fake field goal by the Green Bay Packers marked one of the Bears’ biggest mistakes Thursday at Lambeau Field. The play resulted in a 27-yard touchdown pass from holder Tim Masthay to tight end Tom Crabtree for the Packers’ only touchdown of the first half.

On the play, Packers kicker Mason Crosby set up for a 45-yard field goal attempt. But instead of catching the snap and planting the ball into the turf, Masthay held the ball and flipped it to Crabtree as he crossed from left to right behind the Packers’ offensive line.
