Schedules, safety key elements in day of school bus driver
It’s 2:50 p.m. on a recent Wednesday. Doug Rhodes is getting ready to run Route 508 from Crystal Lake South High School.
The bus steadily fills with students in the 11 minutes they have to get to the bus after school ends.
Rhodes drives about 15 mph on neighborhood streets. While traveling on Ackman Road, before making the stops, he hits 40 mph. He regularly looks in the mirror above his seat to keep an eye on his passengers.
