Tickets on sale for Trail of History
RINGWOOD – Advance discounted tickets remain available for a limited time for the McHenry County Conservation District’s annual Trail of History.
Trail of History, a living history re-enactment of the northwest territory between 1670 and 1850, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21 at Glacial Park, 6316 Harts Road, Ringwood.
Advance, discounted tickets are for $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 12 and seniors who are 60 and older. Children 5 and younger are free.
Purchase tickets by Oct. 12 or mail requests to Brookdale Administrative Office, 18410 Route 14 in Woodstock or the Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake. Mail orders must be postmarked by Oct. 5. Regular-price tickets will be available for purchase at the event: $7 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.
Tickets are nonrefundable; cash or check only will be accepted.
The Trail of History will feature more than 100 interpreters from across the country demonstrating trades and crafts common in the early settler days. Visitors can make cornhusk dolls, play old-fashioned games, or dress up in old-fashioned clothes.
Other activities include a re-enactment of military tactics, Dr. Balthazar’s traveling medicine show, blacksmith demonstrations, musicians, dancers and more.
Souvenirs and authentic culinary treats will be available for purchase.
Glacial Park is on Harts Road, seven miles north of McHenry off Route 31.
Gates close at 3 p.m. to allow visitors time to make the one-mile walk over hilly terrain to the encampment site.
A limited special needs parking area is available. Pets are not allowed.
