Retired Illinois trooper charged in shooting death
CHICAGO HEIGHTS – A retired Illinois State Police trooper has been ordered held without bond in the shooting death of a man at a Chicago Heights gasoline station.
Dennis Joyner of Park Forest is charged in the death of 40-year-old Robert Fortson of Chicago Heights.
According to court records, Fortson and his family rented a home in Park Forest from August 2009 to August 2011 that is owned by Joyner. When the Fortson family moved out, "minor damage" to the house was noticed.
