ISP: Man in custody after meth found in vehicle
TROY (AP) — Illinois State Police say an Arizona man is in custody after a traffic stop in southwestern Illinois led to the discovery of several pounds of methamphetamine worth $330,000.
Authorities say a trooper stopped a silver SUV for improper lane usage on Interstate 55 near Troy last week. A search of the vehicle revealed three wrapped bundles containing about 3.6 pounds of meth.
The occupant of the vehicle was a 31-year-old man who is being held at the St. Clair County Jail pending federal drug trafficking charges. Other occupants of the vehicle were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and possibly face deportation.
